One of the few shows I will watch on a regular basis.  Even though there hasn’t been a new episode in years.  Picks up on the sort of innovative comedy and creativity The Simpsons dropped years ago.  Goofy and clever.  Social commentary from a drunken, foul mouthed robot.  What’s not to like?

The Battlestar Galactica Holiday Special

There was a time when I was so taken by the new Battlestar Galactica that when I saw a picture of the recreator Ronald Moore I thought, “Now there’s a good looking man. I want to be that cook!” He looks like, at best, a combination of Barry Gibb and Doug Henning. No one is more ashamed of this than me.

A lot of time has passed since the last new episode. A lot. In the meantime they’ve been showing reruns. A lot. In the middle of the night. On a Saturday when you are either asleep or drunk. Why he or the Sci-Fi Channel is trying to kill the show I don’t know. But watch one episode of the new “Flash Gordon” Or Leprechaun 4: In Da Hood and you’ll think that 2 am start time is perfectly reasonable.

Season 4 doesn’t start until sometime in 2008. The last new episode was March 2007. My love is the same but the Doug Henning-like magic is wearing thin. Like any long term relationship my mind is beginning to wander. There’s always old episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation but I know it’s just a rebound. We still love each other but have grown apart. There’s no other really hot sci-fi shows on so I guess I’ll stick with Galactica.

Even George Lucas made “The Star Wars Holiday Special” between the first (3rd) and second (4th) movies. Though he’d deny paternity like a contestant on ”Maury.” I love that special like it’s my own. The new Battlestar mini film came on this past saturday night. It didn’t disappoint. Then it just ran out on me again afterward. I wont see it again for another few months. Tom catting it all over the fleet. But maybe we can work things out next time, I can make it change. I know I can.

http://www.kumandgo.com/gogear.aspx

Fortunately for us the Kum & Go has merchandise for sale with their logo on it.  Would make a good Christmas present.    I’d look especially handsome in one of these hats.  Specifically the white and black one.

The Pump and Munch has no such website.   Although there is this website which is probably unrelated but doesn’t help things either.  But the Midwest is so far ahead of us in terms of convenience store namesThe best we’ve got is a store that used to sell woven plastic lingerie.  I am not making that up.  The place has a boring name.

I really am trying to avoid posting such immaturity but it couldn’t be helped.  I borrowed this from delia logan at wordpress.com.  She’s handled it with much more grace then me.  I did wait until after Thanksgiving so there is some progress.  It could be much worse.  Switch the store names with around and see what you come up with.

The Great American God Complex

Questionnaire for all great Christians, Christian Americans, American Christians or those who do not understand these can be mutually exclusive.

Let’s get started.

How is it America is a Christian nation and is always going to hell at the same time?

How is it we have free will but are going to hell for choosing it?

If God created everything, who created evil, hell?

If God ordered everything, how is it that that his creation the Devil broke from that and caused evil?

How does George W Bush serve God/America best?  As a persecuted example of a good Christian-American or life long dictator king?

Lightning round:

As a nation of Christians which is more important?  Killing Muslims or converting them?

Why as you’re reading this are you thinking “That boy is going to h-e-double hockey sticks” instead of answering the questions?

There are traditional values we should maintain in the present.  Knowing your neighbors, working hard, raising kids and burning practicers of TV witchcraft at the stake.  That kind of thing.

So far I’m not really liking “Heroes,” the show based on comic book superheroes.  Although there’s probably some nerd out there who’d prefer they be called “Graphic Novel of the Week.”  The show does have it’s strong points.  Anyway while you’re pondering the gigantic plot holes and poor pacing, NBC insists on subjecting you to commercials for the show “Phenomenon.”  The show about competitive, edgy magicians hosted by Uri Gellar and Tommy Lee aka Mystery aka Chris Gaines aka Criss Angel.  The plot: American Idol meets vaudeville level talent who, along with the hosts, dress and act like douchebags.  Hosts, contestants and show premise all seem like they time travelled from the 70s, 90s and 1890s, I guess.

We can all be better served by watching the components rather than the whole.  Any other reality show with people bickering, American Idol, a magic show and of course, a train wreck.  It takes more time but you’ll feel less dirty afterward.  If you really need a douchebag fix you can visit this site.  Someone pays for that domain name out of their own pocket so you know they’re sincere.  With that kind of pure entertainment the least we can do is encourage them along.  They’ll also be spared the stake.  Unless it’s televised.

Archive.com. All kinds of media from original 78 or cylinder recordings to books and film. Most are so old they’ve past into public domain. Some pretty much lost until someone saved them here. Newer content can be uploaded onto the site but it’s the old stuff that fascinates me.

Gutenberg.org. If you always wanted to steal Bram Stoker’s Dracula and release it as your own you can now. It’s also in the public domain and can be downloaded for free. Along with about 100,000 print items. Everything Shakespeare has ever written or alleged to have written is here, too.

Hollywood mines the public domain so they don’t have to pay royalties. Will Smith has made a movie based on the book “I am Legend.” Don’t waste your money. This may be the better of the two.

Both sites are maintained by donation. It’s kind of scary to think of all those resources being lost. By donating I think we’re getting the better part of the bargain.

Thank god for edutainment. Otherwise I wouldn’t learn anything.

Further identifications include foot tapping as their primary means of communication. Vehement protestations from family and clergy as confirmation.
